Definition
The reported since date is a record of the first time a credit bureau provided information to the credit bureau on a certain debt account.
Analysis
The reported since date is not the date that the account opened. In some cases, an account could be open for years before a creditor decides to report the account to a credit bureau.
Once an item is reported to one credit bureau, the date is recorded within that item on the credit report. This date does not change, and serves as a record of inception for the account. If there are differing reported since dates on multiple credit reports for the same item, then the first date will serve as the most accurate date. A tri-merge credit report will use the oldest reported since date as the official date that an account was established.
