Several private companies mimic the Annual Credit Report Service by offering free credit reports as long as the consumer purchases their expensive credit monitoring services. Most services charge anywhere from $12.95 to $29.95 a month. The only source for getting your actual free reports guaranteed through the FACT Act is at www.annualcreditreport.com.
