Christian Credit Card Debt Help

December 8th, 2008 by Kenneth Long

There is an expectation of debt relief providers that they are a Christian organization. This expectation is that they can be trusted to help you in your time of need. Unfortunately, some companies try to exploit this trust to take advantage of your vulnerable situation.

First of all, understand that a Christian organization is a church or a charity organized to promote Christianity. It teaches financial discipline as it is mentioned in the Bible.

Many of the companies that claim to offer Christian debt help actually have no religious affiliation whatsoever. Instead, they are trying to appear as a benevolent organization that you can trust. If you contact them, you may find that they have violated your trust.

The Bible does teach certain financial truths that can be applied to everyday finances. There are certain well-known programs that discuss these Biblical principals as they apply to financial readiness.

One reputable program is available through Crown Financial Ministries. This national program consists of a network of local programs run through churches in communities across the nation.

There are other programs that are both national and local in scope that can truly provide a Christian-based approach to handling your finances. If this appeals to you, then you should investigate each program carefully before deciding to contact that provider for assistance.

You can look for recognition as a charity by the Internal Revenue Service. You may also ask them questions about their religious affiliations.

The main thing that you want to determine is that you trust the organization. If they claim to be Christian but focus only on pushing a specific product or service, then they are likely a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Vision Credit Education is a nonprofit organization that promotes many approaches to handling debt. This can include Christian-based curriculum such as that provided by Crown Financial Ministries, or it can be a special program through your church.

If you want to have the fellowship and support of your peers as you work together to get out of debt, then you might want to first contact your church minister to see what programs the church offers. You may find that there is help right in front of you! Most ministers are trained to help you with financial troubles as well as other family problems.
