(Chapel Hill, NC) The Chapel Hill Library is hosting a homebuyer class on Saturday, June 6 2009. The class is being conducted by the Women’s Center as part of their First Time Homebuyers and Affordable Homeownership programs.

Several guests will be featured as a part of the 1-day class. Vision Credit will be providing a segment in cooperation with Fiscal Progress that is designed to take the mystery out of the homebuying process.

Freddie Mac designed the Get the Facts! curriculum to help ease confusion that often accompanies the various steps of buying a home. This brief presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

The Get the Facts! seminar answers many questions often posed by first-time homebuyers. In addition, many of the myths often circulating in the community are debunked. We will field questions that participants have and will make recommendations based on their unique situations.

If you or someone you know is thinking about buying a home, this could be a good course to attend prior to making a purchase. It is also recommended for previous homeowners that may have faced foreclosure or other serious action.

Date and Time:

Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location:

(Raleigh, NC) Vision Credit Education will be providing a credit self-repair class at the Helen Wright Center for Women. The Helen Wright Center is a transitional shelter for women who are emerging from homelessness. It is managed by Urban Ministries of Wake County.

Credit is such an important part of the application process when renting an apartment or a home. Landlords want to know that you can be trusted to pay your rent on-time, and your credit history is one of the best predictors for that.

Participants will learn how to order their free credit reports without using a credit card. In addition, we will discuss how credit scoring works. Finally, we will review the steps for cleaning up damaged credit, including how to pay off older accounts and disputing inaccurate information.

Time:

1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location:

Helen Wright Center for Women

401 W. Cabarrus Street

Raleigh, NC 27601

Vision Credit Education will provide information on credit self-repair and on community services that can help you gain control of your financial situation.

For more information and to register for the event, contact Terrie Deal with the Wake County Supportive Housing Program at 919-231-5954 or 919-856-5270.
