Counselor certification and continuing education are an important focus at Vision Credit Education. Our counselors and volunteers are among the most highly trained in the industry.
Credit Counseling
All credit counselors at Vision Credit are required to complete dual examinations administered by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE). Both the Accredited Credit Counselor (ACC) and the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certifications must be attained by all of our credit counselors.
Some credit counselors also have additional certifications and training, including:
- Certified Credit Report Reviewer (Institute of Consumer Financial Education)
- Certified Grants Specialist (National Grant Writers Association)
Housing Counseling
All housing counselors at Vision Credit receive extensive training for pre-purchase and post-purchase housing counseling. Each housing counselor is a Certified Housing Counselor through The Association of Housing Counselors. In addition, counselors have completed Reverse Mortgage Counseling training through the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
The volunteers and employees of Vision Credit are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service to provide income tax preparation through the IRS VITA program. All complete classroom instruction as well as complete a comprehensive annual exam that is administered by the IRS.
